Exteriors go to ground

Earthy shades make any style of home look right up to date from the street. A flattering colour that’s not too light and not too dark is the New Look Ingo. It’s pebble-like, stoney and sandy; hey presto, the house will have a very smart makeover. The neighbours will thank you.

COOL WHITES

Cool whites are those tinted with cooler colours such as green, blue and black. Cool white colour schemes give an air of elegance to all white rooms. They work well in modern spaces filled with an abundance of natural light. Always ensure that if you’re using a cool white, the room has plenty of sunlight and warmth. Try New Look Whitestone, Sea Salt, Arctic, Substance or Voguette.

TIP: The New Look ‘All White’ Collection features top 20 whites of 2011. This gorgeous colour card is a decorator’s must have and is available free from Paint Place. The New Look range is manufactured by Wattyl exclusively for Paint Place.

Redecorating Your Bedroom?

In bedrooms the feature wall should always be behind the bedhead. It’s a decorating formula that holds true in all circumstances, even when there are windows in the wall. A colour that adds the right amount of depth to be restrained and calm, yet is sensationally decorative is New Look Heiress, a red that has evolved into sheer delight. Paint it in New Look Xtrawear low sheen over a tinted New Look undercoat.

If you’re struggling to pick a colour scheme for your bedroom consult with your local paint and colour specialist www.paintplace.findnearest.com.au

Colour Know How

When using some bold, deep and vibrant shades of paint, a tinted undercoat will help the job along. It will mean you will get the right colour and coverage with fewer coats, saving you money & less coats means more eco-friendly! Ask the Paint Place retailer if it’s needed for your shades of paint – find your nearest Paint Place store here.

The front door can be a detail of the house where you can let colour go to your head.

A vibrant front door colour can bring a lot of personality to your home. Paint the back of the door the colour of the hallway, or it’s accessories.

Choose dark vibrant colours for the street side. Make your entrance welcoming and exciting. Some of our favourites include:

  • New Look Sculpt – an elegant grey
  • New Look Flight – a gorgeous red
  • New Look Xavier – a classic black
  • New Look Manon – a springtime fresh green
