Here’s a ‘head’s up’ on how to dispose of paint responsibly.
 |
First things first
The trick to knowing how to dispose of your paint is to identify what kind of paint you have. Water-based (acrylic or latex) or oil-based (solvent-based).
Water-based paints are less toxic than oil-based paints. The label will suggest using water to clean paint brushes and equipment.
Oil-based paint requires turpentine or a white spirit to clean paint brushes and equipment. Oil-based paints require careful handling.
The Australian Paint Manufacturers’ Federation
recommends these steps for safe clean up after painting.
